VocaPop ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that lets you save subtitle words to your personal vocabulary list while watching videos on YouTube, Netflix, and similar platforms. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data We Collect
Words you save
When you click a subtitle word, that word and its context (source language, timestamp, video title) are saved to your vocabulary list stored on our servers.
Account information
If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID and email address solely to identify your vocabulary list. We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, or any other Google service.
Extension settings
Preferences such as your display language and subtitle settings are stored locally in Chrome's storage and are not transmitted to our servers.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- ✕ Browsing history or visited URLs
- ✕ Video content, screenshots, or media
- ✕ Personal information beyond email (no name, phone, address)
- ✕ Payment information
- ✕ Data from websites other than supported streaming platforms
4. How We Use Your Data
- To store and sync your vocabulary list across devices
- To authenticate you and associate your data with your account
- To provide the mobile review feature (VocaPop mobile app)
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or any commercial purpose.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your vocabulary data is stored on our servers. We use HTTPS for all data transfers. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
6. Third-Party Services
The Extension uses Google OAuth 2.0 for sign-in. Google's use of your data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use any other third-party analytics or advertising services.
7. Your Rights
- Access: You can view all saved words in the Extension side panel or the mobile app.
- Deletion: You can delete individual words or your entire vocabulary list at any time.
- Account removal: Contact us to permanently delete your account and all associated data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We will notify users of significant changes via the Extension update notes. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
